Healthy Oatmeal Cereal

Who doesn't love waking up in the morning to a nice hot, already prepared meal. Its the best way to kick off your day without any worry about getting up early and making it. I cooked this recipe up because I needed more uses for my crock pot and again... I would be waking up to hot homemade oatmeal.

Paul and I have been trying to eat very healthy... hence the 'healthy jalapeno' but sometimes that can be easier said and done. When you look at some of these instant oatmeal packages there are so many ingredients that I have never heard over never mind being able to even pronounce. I like knowing what I am eating and if all I am doing is adding water to an already dry ingredient packet I couldn't imagine it was all that healthy for my body. We strive for 'real' food and great tastes.

This recipe was perfect because its a few quick and easy ingredients, throw it all together and 8 hours later your eating breakfast right when you rise... no effort needed.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
3 cups water
2 cups chopped peeled apples
1/4 cups sliced almonds
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Combine all ingredients in your slow cooker, cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours.

Yum yum and so easy, there shouldn't be a reason not to try this. Its homemade breakfast... hot and ready to eat.

Enjoy!
