Strawberry Jello and Pretzel Dessert Salad

This is a dessert salad that gets raves among raves.

I inherited this recipe from Paul's mother and it's one that we bring to so many picnics and parties because it is such a crowd pleaser. It's the taste of the salty pretzels mixed with the cheesy jello combination that is positively mouth-watering, aaaaaaand the presentation is something that completely reflects that good-old summertime feeling kinda in a treat.

The 4th of July will sparkle with this dessert.

Strawberry Jello and Pretzel Dessert Salad

Ingredients
1 stick melted butter
2 3/4 c. crushed pretzels
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 (8 oz.) Cool Whip
1 c. sugar
2 sm pkg. strawberry Jell-O
1 pkg. frozen/fresh strawberries

Dissolve Jell-O in 2 cups boiling water and let gel. Combine and whip cream cheese, Cool Whip, and 1/2 cup sugar; put on top of crumbs. Push your fresh/ frozen strawberries on top of the cheese layers or your can mix strawberries with Jell-O to get a floating fruit look, *add blueberries if desired. When the Jell-O is starting to set, pour over cheese layer and refrigerate until firm.

*4th Of July add-ins: Push the blueberries into the top left corner for the stars and stripe the strawberries across the cheese layer to form the stripes in the flag. Very festive.

*For the 4th Of July we add a small handful of blueberries.
Mix melted butter and crushed pretzels together and press into 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake for 8 minutes at 350 degrees.
