World Nutella Day... I love it!!
Nutella is more than just a “chocolaty hazelnut spread,” it is a way of life.

There is nothing bad about today. It's an all Nutella sweet treat day, on top of Superbowl Sunday with all the delicious wings, snacks and cocktails that a happy fat football fan could enjoy.

I had to make something, and it snuck up on me a little faster than expected because I was so focused on the Superbowl. But no worries, I had something on the brain to make and this just pushed me to throw it together. 
Lately I have had an obsession with spice and chocolate combined. That savory and sweet is just fabulous, just like in my mexican hot chocolate , is a fabulous combination and I can't get enough.

So why would that change for one of the greatest food holidays of the year?
 Exactly, it wouldn't!!!

And when you really look at it, this sweet and savory snack is lighter and healthier than so many other options, but you get your chocolaty fix and enjoy every bite of it.
So I woke up this morning and got quickly to work on my Nutella dream snack to have ready for the pre-game.

There have been so many amazing recipes popping up all day long and I have been drooling over all the delicious recipes, so thankfully my finger-licking popcorn was cooled and ready to serve.

Taking pictures was a tease because Paul and I already snuck a few bites and I was ready to devour but as always, I needed to get a few shots so that I could share this delicious snack with you all.
So here it is!!!

My chocolaty delicious snack {and always with a little spice}. I know you will all love this one, and so will your game ready guests.

Now, let's get ready for some football {and hopefully a few good commercials}.

Spicy Nutella Popcorn for World Nutella Day

14 cups popped popcorn
1 cup roasted and salted hazelnuts, chopped
3/4 cup nutella
1 tbsp shortening
2 tsp ground ancho chile pepper
1/2 tsp instant espresso coffee powder
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Remove all unpopped kernels from popped popcorn. Place popcorn and raw hazelnuts into a 17x12x2-inch roasting pan. Keep warm in oven while preparing caramel.

In a small saucepan combine Nutella, shortening, chipotle chile pepper, coffee powder, and cinnamon. Cook and stir over low heat until chocolate is melted and smooth.

Drizzle chocolate mixture over popcorn mixture; toss gently to coat. Toss in Let stand at room temperature or in the refrigerator until set. Break mixture into clusters. Spoon into bowls and serve.
NOTE: To roast raw chopped hazelnuts, in a 15x10x1-inch baking pan combine 1 cup raw hazelnuts, 2 tablespoons olive oil, and 1/2 teaspoon salt; toss gently to coat. Spread hazelnuts in a single layer. Bake in a 350 degrees F oven for 10 minutes, stirring once halfway through baking.

Place popcorn in an airtight container; cover. Store at room temperature for up to 1 week.

Your Popcorn looks amazing! Figures I missed the day! I din't realize it until half way through. I was wondering why I kept seeing Nutella recipes all week.
