Spiked Shamrock MintShakes

St. Patrick's Day is just days away and I'm are gearing up early.

Last night Paul had a "man date" with a good friend of ours so I maned the fort and cooked myself a little din din while flipping through my newest cooking magazine that just came in the mail. It hit me that months back on a girls weekend in the city I ended up coming home with a bottle of Creme de Menthe that I stored in the downstairs pantry shelves.

Umm, IDEA!
I have to say that I actually really don't like McDonald's Shamrock shakes, either because they are too heavy or just because they are from McDonalds, but whatever the reason they never depict the same taste as it's looks.

Either way, the thought behind the Shamrock shake and the novelty that they only come out once a year was enough of an outline to spike tonight's idea...

Idea #1... Drunken Shamrock MintShakes!!!
March is the month of green... it's Girl Scout green {and our 100th Anniversary} as well as Irish green for St. Patrick's Day.

Idea #2... pair them together!

Shamrock green meets Thin Mint green... I like it.
Chocolate meets mint... I love it.
So tonight I broke out the trusty Ninja blender, threw the ingredients in and poured myself a drunken mintlicious cocktail.

What I love about my milkshake compared to others is that it's lighter, or possibly even dairy-free with the 'ice cream' and milk, plus who doesn't like a few spirits to add a smile to your sip. Not forgetting that I topped this amazing milkshake with crushed up Thin Mints {which are currently being sold in Connecticut by sweet and powerful young girls}, what better way to enjoy a cool and refreshing cocktail treat after dinner. Plus, homemade it always better {and made with love}.

Now, you do not have to be Irish, eat Irish food or listen to our amazingly awesome music, but Irish or not, everyone will celebrating our heritage this Saturday and everyone should be making themselves a glass or too of my chocolatey-mint milkshakes.

Shamrock MintShake in one hand and slice of Irish soda bread in the other and I'd say you are ready for the festivities to begin.

That looks awesome! I always put my shakes/smoothies in mason jars like that too. This is just amazing though. I am a huge fan of anything and all that is green and mint. So lovely!

I'm obsessed with this recipe! I'm with you, I've never been a huge McDonalds Shamrock Shake fan, but yours looks amazing with the Girl Scout Cookies (one of my favorites... have a box I'm trying to hide from myself at home :) ) And stunning pics! These look great!
